Ugandan music star Zulitums, real name Sam Ssemwogerere, has opened up about a deeply personal and emotional chapter of his life that many fans never knew. During an exclusive interview with NRG Radio Uganda, the Afrobeat singer and songwriter revealed that his hit single "Oluvanyuma" was a heartfelt dedication to his mother.
In a candid conversation, Zulitums shared that for years, he was denied the opportunity to see his mother due to restrictions imposed by his former management. “I understand they wanted to distance me from the crowd,” he said. “But your mother is not part of the crowd. That’s why it confuses you.”
The revelation has struck a chord with many fans across Uganda and beyond, offering new meaning to the emotional lyrics of "Oluvanyuma." The song, already a fan favorite, now carries even more weight as a tribute to the unbreakable bond between a mother and son.
Zulitums was previously signed under Black Avay Records, a partnership that lasted three years. He officially parted ways with the label in April 2023 after the expiration of his contract. The split, according to sources close to the artist, was amicable but marked a turning point in his personal and professional journey.
Now operating independently, Zulitums continues to build his brand, connect more deeply with his audience, and tell his story through music. This revelation is not only a milestone in his career but also a touching reminder of the sacrifices and emotional complexities behind the scenes of the music industry.
